# Perseid > Perseid is an iPhone app that runs a routine against a deadline. You set > the time you must be done by and which steps can be cut. When the routine > falls behind, it shortens steps first, then drops whole steps in the order > you chose, taking anything that depends on them with it, and says out loud > what it cut and why. When nothing left can be cut, it says so rather than > inventing a plan that cannot work. - Platform: iPhone, iOS 18 or later. A Mac app that edits and runs the same routines is built but not yet released. - Status: not yet in the App Store. A free beta is open on TestFlight; to join, leave an email address on the home page. - Data: no account with Perseid, no Perseid server, no analytics. Routines are plain YAML files and each run is a JSONL log, in the user's own iCloud Drive, or on the device without iCloud. - It is a routine runner, not a habit tracker: it has no streaks. ## Writing a routine file - [Routine prompt](https://perseid.app/prompt.md): the complete contract for generating a routine file (rules, field meanings, the JSON Schema and a worked example). It is the same text the app's "Copy AI Prompt" puts on the clipboard. Start here. - [Agent skill](https://perseid.app/.well-known/agent-skills/write-perseid-routine/SKILL.md): the same contract packaged as a skill, listed in [the skills index](https://perseid.app/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json). - [Routine schema, v1](https://perseid.app/schema/v1/routine.schema.json): JSON Schema (draft 2020-12) for a routine file with `schema: 1`. This path stays valid for v1 files after later versions exist. - [Routine schema, latest](https://perseid.app/schema/routine.schema.json): the current version. A person brings a file into the app by pasting it into Import from Text, or by saving it as a `.yaml` file in the app's iCloud Drive folder. The app checks a file when it reads it and says what is wrong with one it refuses. ## Pages - [Home](https://perseid.app/): what Perseid is, the demo and how to join the beta. - [Features](https://perseid.app/features): everything the app does, as built. - [Privacy](https://perseid.app/privacy): what the app and the site keep, and where. ## Contact - hello@perseid.app: general questions - feedback@perseid.app: bug reports and beta feedback
