Perseid collects nothing
Perseid has no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. Nothing you do in the app is sent to me or to anyone else, because there is nowhere to send it. The one exception is a bug report you choose to email me.
Where your data lives
Your routines and your run history are ordinary files. They are stored in your own iCloud Drive, in a folder you can open, read, edit and delete yourself — or, if you do not use iCloud, on your device alone.
iCloud is Apple's service, governed by your agreement with Apple and synced under your own Apple Account. I have no access to it. I cannot read your routines, see your history, or tell whether you have used the app today.
What the app does on your device
Announcements are spoken by the speech synthesizer built into iOS. Nothing is recorded, and no audio leaves the device. The app makes no network requests of its own.
If you report a bug, the app opens an email to me, at feedback@perseid.app, in your own mail app, and nothing goes until you send it. A report you send is kept in my inbox. If you share a routine, the app hands the file to the standard iOS share sheet and you choose where it goes. Those are the only ways information leaves your device, and they happen only when you ask.
During the beta
The beta is delivered through TestFlight, Apple's app for testing new apps, and TestFlight works differently from the app itself. Apple shows me the email address you were invited with, whether you have installed a build, and any crash reports, screenshots or comments you choose to send through TestFlight. Perseid itself still sends nothing. TestFlight is covered by Apple's own privacy policy, not this one.
This website
This website has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything on it, from the text and fonts to the demo film, comes from perseid.app itself. Nothing is loaded from anyone else, and your browser is told to refuse anything that tries.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which has to see your IP address to deliver the pages and to protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare shows me recent traffic for up to 31 days, including IP addresses and the kind of device and browser that made each request. I look at it only to keep the site working, and I do not copy or keep it. Cloudflare's own handling of it is covered by Cloudflare's privacy policy.
The site sets no cookies of its own. Cloudflare may set one, called cf_clearance, if it needs to check that a visitor is not an automated bot. It records that the check was passed, it is used only on this site, and Cloudflare says it is not used to follow people from site to site. It can last up to a year, and you can delete it in your browser at any time.
The launch and beta lists
If you sign up on this website, to hear when Perseid launches or to join the beta, I keep your email address, the day you signed up, and which list it was for. Nothing else: not your IP address, not your browser, and signing up sets no cookie. The lists are stored with Cloudflare, which hosts this site, and only I can read them. You can be on both.
The beta list is for adding you to the beta. I give your address to Apple's TestFlight to send your invitation, and then I delete it from the list. What TestFlight shows me after that is described under "During the beta" above.
The launch list is for two things: one email when Perseid is in the App Store, and counting how many people are interested. Before that email goes, this page will name the service that sends it, since it will need the addresses to do so. Once it has gone, I delete the list.
Neither list is ever sold or shared. To be taken off either sooner, email hello@perseid.app.
Payments
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. I never see your payment details. Apple provides sales and download statistics in aggregate, from which individual people cannot be identified.
If you stop paying
The app stops working. Your files do not go anywhere: every routine and every line of history stays in your iCloud Drive, in a documented plain-text format, readable by any text editor. Nothing is held hostage, because nothing was ever held.
Children
Perseid is not directed at children, and since it collects no data, it collects no data from children.
Changes, and how to ask
If this policy ever changes, the date below changes with it, and the change will be described in the app's release notes.
Questions to hello@perseid.app.
